BYE BYE THREE-QUARTER
INCH - video /
summer 2004
Facing down the idea of dragging a crate of over one hundred three-quarter
inch Umatic mastertapes and raw footage along on yet another move, I came
with the alternative of creating new digital masters and destroying the
originals. Bye Bye Three-Quarter Inch began with the documentation of
that task.

Who makes public records and how? In the future, how will archiving be carried
out for the Internet? What sites will be included, what will be discarded,
and for what reasons? Will market pressure alone determine online content?

TRUNK©
- portable galley / 1996 - ongoing
TRUNK© was created in October of 1996 by Daniel Dugas and Valerie LeBlanc.
At that time we were just coming back into the Maritimes from living in
the US and in Alberta for 7 years. We found ourselves in a time period
where we had no place to show our work and instead of waiting out that
long period between the application and the opening night, we made our
own art centre.

He is wading through a swamp carrying a hot potato as world turn around

In 1998, the December 6th Committee commissioned Artist Valerie LeBlanc
to complete the commemorative sculpture Courage & Hope. The sculpture was
designed to commemorate the loss of the fourteen young women killed in an
act of violence against women at the Ecole Polytechnique in Montreal, 1989;
and to give a sense of inspiration and hope for the future efforts and achievements
of girls and women.
